Travis has a Bachelor of Arts in Photography, a Diploma in Film and Television and is a Director of Photography with experience ranging from feature films to television commercials. He began his career as a food photographer in Melbourne before moving to Queensland to study film production and then work as a motion picture camera assistant on various local and international television series. He has been lecturing for twelve years and not only runs the day-to-day operations of the College, but also thoroughly enjoys hands-on work with the students.
Diana has over 30 years combined experience in Business and Administration Management skills. As Student Services Manager, Diana is passionate about the students’ learning and wellbeing. She proactively encourages and nurtures them to set high standards and achieve their goals. Diana’s ability to problem solve assists students when work related or personal issues arise.
As IFC’s Marketing Manager, David brings to the College both his knowledge and background in modern marketing techniques and years of industry experience as a camera assistant and cinematographer. This, combined with his passion for teaching, makes David a valuable member of the College family.
John has a Bachelor of Fine Art in Photography and 30 years experience in the commercial photography and advertising industry. He comes from two of Australia’s most prominent commercial studios in Melbourne where he was responsible for the development of new photographic styles. His body of work includes fashion, industrial, architectural, magazines, landscape and food photography. In 1995 John established his own studio in Melbourne with a focus on quality and service, and is still active in the industry today. He is proficient in both film and digital technology, and brings a wealth of industry experience and knowledge. www.s38.com.au
Phil has worked as a Camera Operator and Director of Photography in the film and television industry for more than 30 years. His experience includes both underwater and steadicam camera operation and he has conducted Australian Cinematographers Society master class workshops. His credits include feature films such as Blurred and Under the Radar, the Australian Mini Series Through My Eyes and the US series Terra Nova. He brings a wealth of knowledge and industry contacts to the College’s cinematography classes.
Karel Segers is a story consultant and script editor who consults to writers, producers, the AWG and government agencies in Australia and overseas. He has experience in development, production and distribution, plus he is a certified teacher. Karel had a full career spanning all aspects of radio before he became an international movie buyer who started as a movie critic for radio and TV, headed Programming and Acquisitions at DBC in London and bought films for Europe’s largest Pay-TV. Karel ranks in the world’s Top 10 most influential “Tweeters” for screenwriting. He also founded The Story Department. www.thestorydepartment.com
Peter Hegedus is an accomplished and award winning writer, director and producer of both documentary and drama films. Since beginning his professional career in 1999, Peter has attended conferences, markets and film festivals and he has also participated in various panel discussions around the world concerning international financing and directing documentary. He has taught filmmaking at Tertiary level and in 2008 he was awarded the Doctor of Visual Arts. In 2011 Peter was also awarded the Griffith University Alumni Award in recognition of his achievements in documentary filmmaking. He has just completed his second feature documentary My America.
Chris has over 27 years experience in the audio industry, specialising in audio post-production and location sound recording. He has worked on everything from ‘Absolute Power‘ to ‘Xena: Warrior Princess‘, teaming his vast experience in post-production with his love of being out in the field with a fun crew and capturing everything from scratch! Spending over half his life in the studio mixing has taught him exactly what is needed on location to make everyone’s life easier during and after the shoot. Chris is as comfortable in the rainforest in Cairns or the Forbidden City in Beijing as he is behind the controls of Pro Tools, and thoroughly enjoys the process of seeing a production through from shoot to final mix.
During Elizabeth’s freelance career she has been responsible for the entire production process, from management of the auditions of actors, negotiation and contracting of crew, cast and facilities, all the way through the process to final delivery. She has also been responsible for budgets and financial management, from financial development planning through to pre-production, production, post production supervision and the contractual delivery requirements. Some of her work includes the position of Production Manager on the Mission Impossible TV series, A Country Practice and the feature film Shine with Geoffrey Rush.
David is a freelance writer and documentary maker. He has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts from UCLA, and taught film making for 2 years to graduate students at the UCLA Film School. He has also lectured at a film school sponsored by the Australian Film Institute, and guest lectured at the Australian Film, Radio and Television School in Sydney. He was part of a team for an Emmy Award winning National Geographic documentary in 1999, in addition to receiving several international film festival awards over the years. He also writes the international comic strip, “Dharma The Cat – Philosophy With Fur,” published by Simon & Schuster Australia, and by magazines in 28 countries, translated into 18 languages.
David is both nationally and internationally acclaimed for his artistic flair and creative visualisation. David has mastered his design skills in a number of industries, from residential interior design to film and television. He is an accomplished Production Designer who worked on major feature film productions such as Peter Pan, Ghost Ship, House of Wax and Scooby Doo.
Richard has an extensive background in film and television, starting out as an Operations Officer with the ABC and progressing to camera, lighting, vision switching, floor managing and directing news, current affairs and light entertainment for many years for both network and regional television stations.
